About this role
The Wichita Police Department is looking for experienced and qualified law enforcement officers to apply for a program focusing on applicants who would like to laterally transfer to the Wichita Police Department. This is general police work in the protection of life and/or property through enforcement of laws. Work performed involves an element of personal danger. Employees work under general supervision following a period of field training and may be assigned to work on patrol, at headquarters, on special assignments, or as plainclothes investigators. Requirements
<ul><li>Successful completion of a Police Academy Program for Lateral Transfer Officers.<li>Working knowledge of the geography of the City and the location of important buildings.<li>Some knowledge of first-aid methods.<li>Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies; to record details about names, faces, and incidents quickly, clearly, and accurately.<li>Must not be impaired from testifying credibly in a court of law or impaired from swearing to an affidavit.<li>Ability to distinguish colors accurately.<li>Visual acuity that meets established medical standards.<li>Hearing ability that meets established medical standards.<li>Ability to accurately and effectively discharge a rifle, shotgun, and handgun with both left and right hands.<li>Ability to subdue a violent and/or uncooperative
