About this role

The Community Service Officer (CSO) is a non-sworn, part-time civilian member of the Police Department and provides a variety of non-emergency services to the community that do not require physical arrest or relate to a crime in progress. The CSO will also perform other public service and administrative duties as assigned. This position requires a strong service-oriented approach to duties at all times and the ability to work under minimal supervision. &nbsp;<br><br><strong>POSITION CONTEXT:</strong><div style="text-align: left;">The position of CSO is assigned to the Police Commander of Community Services and provides support to overall police department operations. The CSO role is a part-time non-exempt position under the direct supervision of the Police Commander and will work 15 - 20 hours per week and at no time may exceed 1,000 hours in a 12-month period. The work schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and will involve some shift work, weekend, and holiday hours or assistance at emergencies or planned City events.<br><strong data-pasted="true"><em><br>The starting rate for this position is $23.34 per hour, and the full pay range is $23.34 - $38.85 per hour

Requirements

Education:<br><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li>High School Diploma or equivalent required. </li><li>Educational coursework in criminal justice or related field preferred.</li><li>Valid driver’s license.</li><li>This position will require LEADS certification within 6 months of hire.</li></ul><br>Experience:<br><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li>Previous law enforcement experience preferred.</li><li>Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) strongly desired. Previous experience or the ability to gain experience with departmental systems required.</li></ul>
