About This Role
<p>The City of Roanoke is seeking a <strong>Virginia DCJS certified Police Officer</strong> to serve as a temporary criminal investigative detective. The Detective will be responsible for conducting criminal investigations within the Roanoke Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB). The Detective will be assigned to one of the investigation units within CIB to include Crimes against Property, Crimes against Persons, and/or the Special Victims Unit based upon the agencies current staffing needs. Specific job functions may vary based upon the area of assignment with the CIB. The general work description involves serving the community and protecting life, property and the rights of the public. Specific duties will include but not be strictly limited to conducting criminal investigations, preparing case files and reports, serving criminal process papers or court subpoenas, assisting with community functions, and testifying in court proceedings.
