About this role

<strong>Provide police service that otherwise would be lost or delayed because of workload saturation on sworn officers, relieve sworn officer of non-related or low priority police service so that they may pursue anti-crime activities more effectively. Collect and preserve physical evidence in the field; ensure the preservation of all items taken into evidence and testify in court regarding the chain of custody and integrity of evidence.</strong><br><br><strong>Police Service Aids are encouraged to proceed into the sworn rank.<br></strong><br><strong>Police Service Aids are encouraged to apply for sworn rank when eligible and if rejected, may reapply for the next class.</strong><br><br><strong>This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.<br><br>This is an unclassified at-will position.</strong><br><br><strong><a href="http://apdonline.com/" target="_blank" data-uw-rm-brl="PR" data-uw-original-href="http://apdonline.com/" data-uw-rm-empty-ctrl="" data-uw-rm-ext-link="" style="font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; color: inherit !important; text-decoration: underline !important;" data-pasted="true"><strong style=" font-weight: 700;">C

Requirements

Must be a minimum of 18 years of age<br>Possess a High school diploma or GED<br>Must pass the Police Service Aide Written Examination and other required examinations<br>Must pass a Class I physical examination<br>Vision must be correct to 20/30 or better in both eyes<br>Must be a United States citizen or have a valid work permit<br>Must be able to do work shift work<br>Must not have any felony convictions<br>Must pass rigid background investigation<br><br>Intention of becoming a police officer is preferred.<br><br><strong>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: </strong><br>Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.<br>Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.<br>
