About This Role
<p style="margin:0in;"><strong>The City of Tuscaloosa will hold a Tuscaloosa Police Department Cadet Program Open House from 5:00pm - 7:00pm on Monday, April 6, 2026 at the Tuscaloosa River Market. </strong></p><p style="margin:0in;"><br></p><p style="margin:0in;">The Police Cadet Program with the City of Tuscaloosa is an entry-level, non-sworn position designed for young adults interested in a career in law enforcement. The program is designed to introduce young adults to a career in law enforcement through structured training, mentorship, and practical hands-on experience under the supervision of sworn police officers. Cadets perform non-hazardous/non-enforcement support duties while learning about the operations of the Tuscaloosa Police Department and preparing for potential future roles as sworn officers.</p><br><p style="margin:0in;" data-pasted="true"><strong>A physical ability exam will be required as part of the application process. The physical ability exam will consist of:</strong></p><strong>-5 pushups in 1 minute<br>-5 sit ups in 1 minute<br>-1 mile run in 15 minutes</strong><br><br>
Requirements
<p style="margin:0in;text-align:justify;" data-pasted="true">High school diploma from an accredited institution recognized by APOST or GED required; no previous experience required. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must be eighteen (18) to twenty-one (21) years of age. Must be a U.S. Citizen. This job classification is considered to be safety-sensitive and is subject to pre-employment and random drug screens.</p>
