EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: GL-05 Grade Level: To qualify at the GL-05 level, you must have three years of general experience, one (1) year of which was equivalent to at least the GS-04. OR; Education: Four (4) year course of studying leading to a bachelor's degree. OR; A combination of education and experience that totals 100% of the requirement above. NOTE: Successful completion of a Federal, State, county, or municipal police academy or comparable training course that included at least 40 classroom hours of instruction in police department procedures and methods, and local law and regulations, may be substituted for a maximum of 3 months of specialized experience or 6 months of general experience. FIREARMS REQUIREMENT: This position requires that the incumbent meet initial and continuing qualifications in the use of firearms as outlined in the Gun Control Act of 1968, amended by the Lautenberg Amendment of 1996.
