EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards ). GS-12 To qualify at the GS-12 level you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level performing the following law enforcement duties: 1) Investigation, apprehending, arresting, detecting, or prosecuting of persons violating applicable laws, rules, and regulations. 2) Providing training in law enforcement skills, techniques, and practices to prevent and/or detect illegal activities. 3) Planning, directing, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating functions of a Law Enforcement Program. 4) Serving as technical advisor to team leaders in the daily operations of their assigned functional areas. FIREARMS REQUIREMENT: This position requires that the incumbent meet initial and continuing qualifications in the use of firearms as outlined in the Gun Control Act of 1968, amended by the Lautenberg Amendment of 1996.
