About this role

Performs specialized technical statistical and analytical work to support the Police Department by identifying public safety hazards, crime trends, traffic collision patterns, public safety responses, traffic enforcement priorities and safety issues in the community; all related work as required. Works under the general direction of a Bureau Commander. Most work is performed independently within established laws, policies, accepted procedures and regulations. Work requires analyzing and evaluating facts and circumstances and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions and recommendations. Work reviewed through submission of reports, conferences, discussions, and periodic evaluations. Most work is performed under typical office conditions. Operates computer and general office equipment, such as a personal computer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine and telephone.<br>Makes regular contact with the general public, lawyers, city employees, local officials as well as officials of outside agencies. Requirements

Education and Experience<br>Associates Degree from an accredited college or university with a major study in criminal justice, computer science, or a related field required; two years of experience in data collection and analysis, program evaluation or management analysis; Experience in a law enforcement environment is highly desirable; Additional experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.<br><br>Knowledge, Ability and Skill<br>Knowledge: Excellent working knowledge of both personal computer operating systems, and network operating systems; Thorough working knowledge of internal computer components; Working knowledge of web development; Considerable knowledge of modern police science techniques, methods and procedures.<br><br>Ability: Ability to read and understand materials
