Correctional Officer

About this role

<p>This position performs administrative, jail security and prisoner transfer duties. </p><ul><li>Maintains jail security; performs inmate head counts; monitors inmate activities. </li><li>Performs booking and prisoner intake activities; transports inmates to and from appointments and to and from other facilities.</li><li>Administers alcohol tests to inmates; testifies in court in regards to alcohol tests. </li><li>Serves meals and distributes clothing and linens; confiscates contraband from inmates. </li><li>Provides security for medical clinic personnel. </li><li>Signs visitors in and out during visitation hours. </li><li>Writes and maintains receipts for bond payments. </li><li> Performs other related job duties as assigned. </li></ul>

Requirements

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Ability to meet current requirements set forth in the Georgia Mandate Law Enforcement Training Act/Peace Officer's Standards and Training Act.
