About this role
<p>This position is responsible for maintaining the security of the correctional facility.</p><ul><li>Supervises and observes inmates.</li><li>Conducts counts of inmates.</li><li>Makes rounds of the institution to maintain security.</li><li>Supervises routine cleaning and maintenance activities within the institution.</li><li>Performs searches of inmates’ mail, lockers, dormitories, and buildings to remove contraband.</li><li>Ensures inmate compliance with department policies and procedures.</li><li>Administers medication and first aid; responds to inmate requests for other medical attention.</li><li>Serves as control and visitation room officer.</li><li>Transfers inmates to and from court, medical facilities, work assignments, and various appointments.</li><li>Supervises medication, store, telephone, doctor, visitation, meal, and dental calls.</li><li>Assists with conducting searches for escapees.</li><li>Ensures inmate compliance with department policies and procedures.</li><li>Maintains daily reports on all incidents.</li><li>Receives and releases inmates being transferred to and from the facility; prepares the necessary paperwork.</li><li>Appears in state court with inmates who
Requirements
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. No experience requirements. This position is required to supervise state inmate labor. This position is required to supervise state inmate labor. Employee must pass P.O.S.T. certification within the time frame required by this department, which is normally within six months but may be altered. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
