<br>Performs professional archaeological work, including surveys, monitoring, research, and documentation in accordance with established State Historical Preservation Division (SHPD), Federal, State, and County historic preservation requirements, under the guidance of the Principal Archaeologist; and performs other related duties as required. <br><br>This class is distinguished by performing professional archaeological work, including surveys, monitoring, research, and documentation in accordance with established State Historical Preservation Division (SHPD), Federal, State, and County historic preservation requirements, under the guidance of the Principal Archaeologist; whereas the Principal Archaeologist class serves as a principal investigator for any archaeological project which must be reviewed and approved by the State Historic Preservation Division.<br><br>
