Investigator - G120 District Attorney

About this role

<p>This position performs investigative duties to assist the District Attorney in preparing cases for prosecution.</p><ul><li>Prepares case files for prosecution.</li><li>Attends preliminary hearings on all felony cases.</li><li>Obtains police reports and transcripts; obtains investigators' observations; obtains crime lab reports, photos, and evidence; runs criminal background checks; obtains medical records.</li><li>Prepares discovery information for defense counsel.</li><li>Interviews victims and witnesses.</li><li>Prepares for motion hearings.</li><li>Transports evidence to crime labs.</li><li>Testifies before the Grand Jury.</li><li>Prepares cases for trial; verifies that subpoenas have been served to all witnesses; obtains all evidence needed for the case while observing chain of custody procedures; interviews and reviews the case file with witnesses; obtains certified court records; makes documents for court presentation including maps or photos.</li><li>Oversees the maintenance of an assigned vehicle.</li><li>Assists in the administration of department files.</li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned.</li></ul>

Requirements

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.&nbsp;Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
